About the new work:

Tangencies is a new body of work exploring the various geographies that have shaped me both as an artist and an individual. When I am immersed in nature, I take in the vastness of the sky and the distant horizon, but I am also looking intently at the little details: the way a tree bends to the light, the moss covered rocks at my feet, the churning water as it makes its way downstream. And I collect things. From an early age I’ve collected rocks, shells and driftwood along the beach. Out hiking with my family, I photograph gnarled tree roots and the wide variety of thistle, grasses and other vegetation that surround me. Back in my studio they are a reminder of all that beauty, and of the complex and diverse ecosystems that make up our planet. Tangencies brings those collected elements and my personal history together in the hopes of capturing our broader connection to the natural world.
