Mai Wyn Fine Art presents Back to the Garden, a solo exhibition of sculpture and functional silver works by Kim Harrell. A celebration of our connectedness to Earth, this exhibition showcases Harrell’s signature minimalist style emphasizing texture, line and material. Meet the artist at a Special Preview Event on Thursday, November 1st from 6-8pm or during the 1st Friday Gallery Walk, November 2nd from 5-10pm. Back to the Garden continues through December 1st, 2018.

Kim Harrell is a silversmith and jewelry artist based in Aurora, Colorado. Harrell studied at London Metropolitan University, Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design in Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel where she obtained her B.A. in Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts under the guidance of Britain’s most prestigious silversmiths. Harrell’s work can be found in private and corporate collections in the USA, the UK and Norway.

Back to the Garden features Moon Vessel, a series of silver forms created by a technique called raising, which is the process of creating a 3D shape from a flat sheet of metal. Inspired by the stages of the moon, these works exemplify the thoughtful combination of craft and concept featured in Harrell’s work. She sees it as an opportunity to meditate on humanity’s connectedness with matter in the universe — a feeling of connectedness which is strongest for Harrell when she gardens and makes art.
