When you view a piece of mine, you see layering of printer’s ink. Thick or translucent, bits of underpainting slipping through. I want space and color, but also richness.
I want to tempt the viewer to look at each color and move slowly from one to another, collecting the feelings of each as one goes.
The shapes I use are spontaneous, yet they speak to me as if a code. I stand back and they seem to become fish, flowers, leaves or clouds. Space, movement, or man made tools of society.
These are the elements I use to speak to the viewer. Like a shared smile or a glance across the room. I hope for a shared connection.
