land:marks by Sharon Strasburg
This March Mai Wyn Fine Art celebrates Mo’Print, Denver’s month of printmaking, with a solo exhibition by Sharon Strasburg. Using laser cut monotypes, Strasburg creates distinctive, nature-based abstractions.
From the artist's statement...
The artwork I create is a celebration of the wonderful things I see in nature yet in the hectic pace of my contemporary urban life I rarely see a beautiful scene without the punctuation of cables and wires and poles, rooftops and a myriad of manmade geometries. My environment is chopped up and obscured, plotted and marked but the fragmented of natural delights remain as the foundation that sustains. My quest is not to deny the obstacles to the underlying natural beauty but to integrate and celebrate the total experience of the reality of the modern environment. Marked yet sublime.
Join us for the Opening Reception: Friday, March 4th, 6-9pm (coincides with First Friday Gallery Walk in the Art District on Santa Fe Drive).
Strasburg will be running demonstrations and discussing her work at the gallery as part of the Mo’Print Studio Tour: Saturday, March 19th, 10am-4pm
