from the press release:

Mai Wyn Fine Art is kicking off ARTS WEEK early with a new installment of Sharon Bond Brown’s Creators… a portrait series presenting the many faces that make up Denver’s vast and dynamic art community.  A public Opening Reception is set for Friday, October 23rd from 6-9pm at Mai Wyn Fine Art. 744 Santa Fe Dr., Denver.

Figurative painter Sharon Bond Brown started the Creators series in 2009 documenting Denver area artists and other creatives. Each portrait is worked the same size, monochromatic oils on canvas, depicting the creative exactly as Brown encountered them. The Creators series was last formally presented in the noteworthy show Faces, Places & Spaces (2012) at the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities where 33 portraits covered a vast wall in the main gallery. Brown continued with the series and Creators is now forty-eight strong and growing. In celebration of “the first forty-eight” and Denver Arts Week, a limited edition artist card series will be released in conjunction with the show at Mai Wyn Fine Art.

Sharon Brown and her husband Rex own the Pattern Shop Studio located in the River North Art District: a combined living space, exhibition space and studio for Sharon. Along with a handful of other artist-owned spaces, the Pattern Shop Studio helped establish RINO back in the early nineties. “We’re excited to showcase Sharon’s work across town here on Santa Fe Drive,” says gallery owner Mai Wyn Schantz. “Both art districts can benefit by promoting each other’s wealth of creative talent…especially during Denver Arts Week.”

Creators by Sharon Bond Brown continues through November 28th.
